Course evaluations are managed through the Online Course Evaluations (OCE) system. Near the end of each academic term, students are sent a message from the University Registrar’s Office indicating that the course evaluation system is open. They typically have a month to complete or actively decline to complete course evaluations for all their courses in which 5 or more students are enrolled.
Submission and Viewing
- Yale College courses with a minimum enrollment of 5 or more students are eligible for evaluation. Graduate School of Arts & Sciences courses with a minimum enrollment of 4 or more students are eligible for online evaluation.
- Students are expected to participate in this evaluation process or actively decline to participate for every course for which they are enrolled.
- Yale College students are not eligible to complete online evaluations for graduate courses that do not carry a Yale College number.
- Students who withdraw from a course after midterm are invited but are not required to participate.
- Early access to recorded grades is available online to students for courses which they have completed or actively declined to complete the online course evaluation form through the Yale Hub.
- Students can view evaluations from previous classes for their consideration in future course registration.
Course evaluations are important to your instructors and to Yale College and the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences for the improvement of teaching. They are also important to other students, who will be able to view responses to select questions as indicated in the evaluation system.
