Degrees are conferred by the Board of Trustees upon recommendation of the University’s faculty. Most students’ degrees are conferred in May or December, although the Board does confer degrees multiple times a year.
Yale College students may finish their degree requirements at the end of the fall term. If a student’s graduation date is not listed as December in Yale Hub already, then they may complete the acceleration or deceleration petition to notify the Committee on Honors and Academic Standing through their residential college dean’s office that the fall term will be their last term of enrollment.
Graduate School Terminal or En Route Masters students submit a petition, although URO is proactively auto-petitioning eligible students.
Graduate School Ph.D. students go through the dissertation submission process to complete their degree requirements.
