Degree Conferral

Degrees are conferred by the Board of Trustees upon recommendation of the University’s faculty. Most students’ degrees are conferred in December or  May, although the Board does confer degrees multiple times a year.

Yale College students planning to finish their degree requirements at the end of the fall term, must complete a Yale College Petition for Fall Degree Conferral form by September 15 to notify the Committee on Honors and Academic Standing through their residential college dean’s office that the fall term will be their last term of enrollment.

Graduate School Terminal or En Route Masters students submit a petition, although URO is proactively auto-petitioning eligible students.

Graduate School Ph.D.  students go through the dissertation submission process to complete their degree requirements.

Professional School students reach out to their school registrar for degree conferral information.
