When your department registrar offers your course, you may ask that your course be set up with an automated waitlist. A waitlist can be added at any point during registration. The waitlist opens to students when the course is full (reaches the maximum enrollment as determined by the instructor).
A few important things to keep in mind.
- Lectures with discussion sections may not have a waitlist. The affiliated discussion sections may have waitlists.
- The system is automated and instructors have no way of changing the order of students on the waitlist.
- Waitlisting is only an option during the registration period. Waitlists are removed after registration closes and are not an option during add/drop period. If it would be helpful to know the names of the students that were on the waitlist when registration closed, ask your departmental registrar to run an Argos report after registration closes.
