Students in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences must submit a Degree Petition form to be considered for degree conferral.
Important Deadlines
- May Degrees: Petition due by February 15
- September Degrees: Petition due by June 1
- December Degrees: Petition due by September 1
Terminal Masters
Masters students in terminal degree programs may petition for their degree in the term in which they expect to complete the program requirements.
En Route Masters
Ph.D. students may petition for the award of a Masters degree in the term following the one in which all requirements for that degree has been completed. At the time of advancement to candidacy, students who have not petitioned for and received en route degrees (e.g., M.A., M.S., M.Phil.) will automatically be considered for such degrees.
Simultaneous Bachelors/Masters
Students may petition for their degree in the term in which they expect to complete the joint degree requirements.
