Voter Registration

As Election Day, November 5, 2024, approaches, make sure to utilize the resources Yale provides for civic engagement, including voter registration.

The Office of the Secretary and Vice President for University Life has institutionalized student voter registration through the new non-partisan, university-wide initiative, Yale Votes, which is dedicated to supporting student voter participation more broadly and across all schools. Through the fully revamped and expanded Yale Votes website (vote.yale.edu), students can register to vote, check and change their registration, and request an absentee ballot. By partnering with TurboVote, a non-partisan third party platform, Yale Votes provides a step-by-step process that differs depending on how and where a student chooses to vote.

You may register to vote in Connecticut or your home state and request an absentee ballot. If you live on campus, visit the Mail Information page for more information on where you should have voting mail sent.

The deadline to register to vote in each state, along with other resources, can be found on the Voting Resources page, and the deadline to register online to vote in the state of Connecticut is Friday, October 18, 2024. If you submit a Connecticut registration form by mail, it must be postmarked by October 18, 2024. In-person registration is also available up to the day of the election at the Office of the Registrar of Voters, 200 Orange St., New Haven, CT 06510-2696, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Visit the Yale Votes website for questions regarding University Resources for civic engagement, or to Get Involved on campus. For questions regarding the registration or absentee ballot request, email yalevotes@yale.edu.
